Simple question. Just thought I'd get a reading on who people are interested in. Would also like to know why.

Heh, the other day I had some time to kill so I started doing a small write up on my thoughts for the season so far, which may or may not have to be modified following the next episode. Anyway, one thing I started on was my favorite original character. I'll quote what I typed for the write up:
So basically I want to see how Jaime responds to the situation he's been given. Also, I've always liked seeing how regular people react to the demon world and Jaime's still in the process of doing that.
I like having Oni around but I can't say I'm particularly interested in her story. That may just be because I haven't seen enough from her though.
You know how I feel about Andrew. I think I'm actually subconsciously starting to ignore his lines, which isn't good because I miss things that way.
Lorne, I never really cared about him one way or another. I don't mind when he shows up but if he were gone for a long period of time I probably wouldn't even notice.

I thought long and hard over this question because to me unfortunatly it is NOT just a simple question. My answer is Salome for very obvious reasons. One, it seems that demons or ex demons or people that except demons (but I'll get to that later) are the coolest people/characters on the shows Joss Whedon created and the shows he inspired. Two, like thewindfish says in the above reply, Salome goes through some bad things (although thewindfish thinks Jamie's pain is worse just because we don't actually see it on screen, I choose to think equally about it much like Connor might reply if asked about). Three, I am a guy and she's hot and also one of my favorite actresses. ;D As for why I didn't choose any of of the others; For Andrew,

Jamie is like Riley Finn, nice, normal and a little boring. The problem is I don't know how yet. Lorne was cool on Angel but as said in episode 10 a drunk on this show and Oni was going to be chosen because as I said earlier people who like demons are cool, but I had to make a ckoice and Salome won.

I’ve thought about this a little to determine why I feel the way I do. I don't necessarily think Jaime's pain is worse. I've kind of been debating in my head which situation would be more painful. The answer is that they both suck (understatement). But I do think one of the differences between the two for me is that I know how Salome has been trying to deal with her situation. I don't know how Jaime is going to deal with his when directly confronted with it again. I want to see that. Another reason I think Jaime's situation affects me more is that Jules was my favorite non-Connor character to that point. So I relate a little more to his loss. Seeing Jaime interact with Jules helps too since I know how his life has changed. With Salome we don't really see how her life was before. And one of the differences between you and me, BuffyFan, seems to be that I'm more interested in seeing how normals react to the demon world while you are more likely to prefer characters who are already acquainted with it. I could be wrong about that, though. But I do like that Salome, Jaime, and Connor all have loss and betrayal in common, both on similar and different levels. And I’m giving away my whole mid-season thoughts thread that I was planning. Oh well. Now if I were asked Which character would I be most interested in if he/she were real? Yeah, I'm pretty sure I'd be picking Salome there.

But I do like that Salome, Jaime, and Connor all have loss and betrayal in common, both on similar and different levels. You've hit a VERY important part of the character dynamic throught the series. So Salome's got a few lusters, does she? Well, I won't say I'm not pleased by that (Not sure how happy Connor'd be!)

Thewindfish hit on something when we compared our replies about Salome. We have some disagreement, or at least the above replies make it seem that way, but really I don't disagree at all. Nearly everything thewindfish said is true with the exception that I'm not just as interested in the normals and their reactions to the demon world as I am to the characters already in the know. For example I loved both Tara and Spike. And now even though Jamie isn't my favorite out of all the characters on the show I still don't hate him the way I did Riley or Parker and as I said before I have a major thing for Salome character and actresswise. Wierd I know. I just personally hope that no more good guys are planning on leaving any time soon and if they do some pretty decent ones better be prepared to take over. On another note is the next episode going to be out anytime soon, I wish I could say better but I am a very impatient person and am basically updating because the episode wasn't there.

but really, Salome (who seems to tire less from magick then willow) Salome and Willow's powers are very different from each other, really. --Willow is human while Salome is a Nyazian. Nyazians are human imbued with the essence of Illyria. The evolutionary differences between the species mean that Salome can access certain magicks easier than Willow. --Salome has been practicing since birth, nearly twenty-six years. Willow has only been practicing for six years. Willow knows more about magick than Salome, but Salome is more naturally talented.

Since I am not aloud to vote for Connor. I guess Andrew is my next favorite character, he is very funny/geeky. In season 7 of buffy he always made me laugh!! And in your show he does too!!
But really, I kinda like all the characters, there's a very nice group dynamic going on and what I have so far seen of Mandy, I think she will fit in quite well in the group.

I'm actually sort of torn between Salome, the kick-a** demon warrior, or Jamie, the funny-man foil for Connor who's remniscient (hope I spelled that right) of Xander. For Salome, I liked how she proved herself as a warrior by decapitating Azriel and staking all those vamps and killing all those demons. And for a girl, she's hot! Jamie...I can't wait to see how many failed romances he's going to have. Then, he and Xander can compare notes about their crappy family lives and even more messed up love lives. He is cute, though. Any girl- or guy- would be lucky to have him.

I'd have to say Salome for three big reasons. One, she's a powerful sorceress/warrior; two, she has that psychic thing going with Connor (I'm into fictional psychics after reading Kay Hooper's Special Crimes Unit novels); and three, she has a strong personality that makes you want her for a friend or lover. Plus, she got to take down Azriel.
