Discussion on Connor Angel / Steven Holtz / Connor Riley.
His actions in the episodes, His strength and skill, all things metaphysical, the prophecies about him and his terribly complicated love life. Anything goes, as long as its on Connor.

As of the the episode The Vampire Slayer (Episode 9). As long as Connor is Connor Reilley (I don't know if this is spelled right or not) or the season 5 of Connor Angel (he had a brief few moments as VConnor Angel in season 5) then I don't mind Connor at all. I cannot stand Connor Angel in seasons 3 and 4 and Stephen Holz both piss me off to absolutly no end. I think though that he will be all right as long as he has Solome at his side, and Jamie and possible Andrew and Oni.

Jamie, Andrew and especially Salome definitely tie Connor to humanity. To an extent, he gets some support from the Rileys, but he's having a bit of an identity crisis. He's feeling that the Rileys are less and less real. To him, Jamie, Andrew and Salome are real. They like him for who he truly is right now. It's not about him being Connor Angel or Connor Riley, it's about him just being CONNOR.
Personally, I think if Connor were to start acting like a jerk, Salome would smack him around (probably literally. You never know with that girl) and Jamie and Andrew would remind him of what his life is now.
I've always felt that the Connor who appears in "The Nyazian Prophecies" IS Connor Angel from S4 of Angel, but with the proper emotional support. I think Connor from S4 was a caring character who really just wanted to be accepted and that's where his problems came from. But now, he has a family that loves him for who he is.

I want to thank the new comer, evawes, for asking that question because it was a question that I had been pondering but han't quite wonderered whether or not I should ask.
SPOILER ALERT
I am also curious and would like to ask emcee about the next couple of episodes (I think they are the next couple of episodes) in which Connor makes love to Salome and then turns into The Destroyer. It isn't going to seriously destroy (no pun intended) their relationship is it?

Sorry, evawes! I should have welcomed you to the forum!
SPOILERS:
Okay, here is a brief bit about Connor's memories.
What he keeps:
--Connor will remember, in perfect detail, everything that happened to him as Connor Riley from May 2003 to May 2005, because they really happened to him. --He will retain practical knowledge-- such as the Riley's birthdays, how to program a computer and the titles of each episode of Stargate SG-1.
What he loses:
--Memories of his childhood. Like he won't remember getting lost in the department store. --Emotions based on the false memories. Like he won't have any lingering romantic attachment to his ex-girlfriend Tracy. (Not that he has a whole lot now).
As for your question, Buffyfan, Connor/Salome will hit a roadblock with the reimmergence of the Destroyer, but it's not going to kill their romance. It's a stumbling block, not an end.

I for one am glad Connor was spun off as a character. There was just more that you could do with him, more story to develop. Not that there wasn't story potential for Spike or Faith or Willow. But I'm happy with the way TNP and the Battle of the Champions movie turned out. Connor really does have his own universe. At the same time, Emcee makes it seem so easy for other Buffyverse characters to be incorporated into Connor's world. She really did a good job of it, too.

They should really add a Connor spinoff to the Buffy/Angel canon! It just feels right for them to do so. Just like it feels right for them to have Spike survive the battle at the end of Angel so they could do a spinoff movie where he confronts the Immortal and tries to get Buffy back. Illyria and Gunn do survive somehow but are not in the movie. As for Angel's survival, I'm not really sure. But they definitely need to add a Connor spinoff to the official Buffyverse canon. And the Nyazian Prophecies and The Destroyer are the closest contenders for good Connor spinoffs.

Boywonder's half-right...they should make The Nyazian Prophecies part of the Buffy/Angel canon- without changing a thing!

I reallyliked Connor before the spell. The season 5 stuff they did almost made him unreconizable as Connor. I think the way ne's writen here is a lot closer to how I would have liked to have seen it done on the show.

I thought Connor Riley was nice enough... Kinda cute, really geeky... But he wasn't CONNOR. I much preferred him as the angst-ridden, violent guy from S4 (well, maybe not ALL of S4... There are limits. When he got a little too psychotic, it became hard to watch). TNP is all about melding the best parts of both Connor Angel and Connor Riley. He'll be Connor Angel, but with the general stability of Connor Riley.

The only thing I didn't like in Season 4 was when the whole Cordelia sex thing happened. They could have done that whole thing differently. I would rather of had him be the teenager like they showed in Vincent's screen test.

Since Season 2 seems like it's primarily going to be about Connor's past, why not have Justine Cooper (Holtz's second-in-command) on for one episode? After all, she was an important part of his past with Holtz and it would be interesting to see the interplay between Justine and new Connor. And she's a more likely candidate than say Amy Madison or Drusilla.
