Oni seems to have a lot of fans, so I thought it only fair that she have a thread too.
She's strange, she's smart and she's becoming a regular in Season Two.

Oni is a perfect character for the Anya like person just as Jamie is the Xander of the group and Connor is the Buffy of the group and Jules was the Willow of the group and Salome is kind of a mixture of everybody when I think about it. Oni's personality though is wonderful. She sides with the demons even when the try and kill her and that is what sets her apart from Anya, well that and the sophistication in the way she handles things as opposed to Anya's bluntness. I can find a lot of things in common with the two characters but just as much that make Oni her own character. It is wonderful and so is she!

It's a gimme that Oni is my favorite character. I'm narcissistic like that. If I had time and ambition, I'd write a spin off!
No, no I wouldn't. But the thought amuses me.
I don't know if Oni reading a lot and getting hit on by demons in bars would get a lot of ratings anyhow.
She's changed a little from her creation several years ago, but I think those changes make her fit very well into the series as it is.
Random fact: Oni means demon in Japanese.

Salome looked at Lorne. "Oni?"
Lorne nodded. "Oni."
"Whati?" Fred asked.
"Onatoazk," Lorne said, "Good informant."
"Demon?"
"Not quite," Salome said, "Come on. I'll take you to her place."
The first mention of Oni in our ramblings from oh-so-long-ago. Who knew what she would become? Hehehehe....

I'm worried about Oni, shes becoming a watcher right? and watchers have a trend of getting knocked out and you know eventually it's gunna land one of them in a coma, like cordy said to giles "I swear, one of these days you're gunna wake up in a coma"

No, no... No coma for Oni. Far too many Buffyverse women end up in comas. The comas are all for Andrew.

No... A joke. I have no idea if anyone's going to end up in a coma this season.

This is a thought after reading the episode "Something Rotten in Palo Alto." Oni mentioned she lost her virginity. Was it to a demon or a human? If it was to a demon, not surprising. I have a thought on the if a human point though that if it were maybe that is why she has prefered demons for so long.

It was to a demon. The only human Oni would have slept with would be Wesley and they haven't gotten that far yet.

Oni swiftly emerged as my favorite character in this series. Her clinical desire to observe Connor and Salome's mating rituals always made me giggle.

oh man, I should've known Crawford was going to die, he's the only one without his own topic... though julesz has one so... umm... nevermind

I'm not sure if this has been asked yet, but umm... how the hell do you pronounce "Onatoazk K'Xzzznch" anyway?

Since TNP is done in a written medium, figuring out how things were pronounced was not the highest of priorities. I think I've given Oni a pronounciation before, but this might be a bit different. But what is in my head at the moment:
Oh-na-toe-zick Ku-zizz-nich.

This has sort of already been addressed but when Oni mentions to Gerard Deguise that she had already lost her virginity, I think I can guess as to exactly who it was and when it happened. My best guess is that it occurred sometime during Season 1 of TNP and that it was to demon snitch Gil (purely for the sake of getting more information). This is probably why she is able to maintain her "innocence of spirit", my term to describe her relative inexperience in romance. I would add to that that Crawford's death, while changing Oni, doesn't turn her bitter and cynical but instead moves her from inexperience to maturity while preserving her pure heart. However, I'm just guessing Oni lost her virginity to Gil and hoping that asking for confirmation of this isn't going to spoil any future episodes.
