I was wondering who here has read any of the Buffyverse tie-in books. I'm not talking about the episode guides or the Yearbook, but the non-episode adventures.
I've only read a few on them. I used to be really into them, around BtVS S4- AtS S1, but then I fell out of them. For Christmas, I ended up getting a copy of "Monolith" (An AtS book which features Connor very heavily).
What do you guys think of them? Do you like them? Do you think of them as canon? Are TNP like totally better (*g* Had to ask).

I had a friend actually buy me Monolith in, I dunno, February or so. I haven't read it yet. I don't know why. It's just sitting here on the shelf staring at me as I type this.
She saw it there the other day and asked me how I liked it.
Oops.
But the moral of the story is that you could say that I'm a lot more interested in reading TNP than the Buffyverse books.

I have six Buffy books. None of them however have anything to do with Connor. Unlike Emcee all the books I read were all before they graduated high school. Out of the six I own, three are The Gatekeeper's Trilogy, one of them I do not know the name of but it is about a group of people that come into the library during a time when the gang needs it the most, Another if the novelized version of the two hour pilot, and the last is called the Xander Years that has Xander remembering events from 'Bewitched, Bothered, and Bewildered' and 'Inca Mummy Girl' and 'Teachers Pet.' I don't read them very often because I have all seven seasons on DVD and it is on television four times a week as is Angel two times a week. But every so often when I am not reading a current book I pull them out and read along with the DVDs.

The Buffy books I read actually tended to take place during the High School years, but they were released around S4.
Probably my favourite is (I think this is the name) the Lost Slayer Trilogy, which was kind of a neat alternate future.
The one book I really hated was the novelization of "Chaos Bleeds". It was really boring.

Haven't read many Buffy or Angel books, but I picked up "Monolith" from the library and it's a decent read. A little lacking in plot and style, but I liked the Connor involvement. I guess it's harder to write novels for a show like Angel though, when everything is so continuous from episode to episode, because the novels have to be self-contained and not mess up canon or anything.

I meant to ask this a while ago but I kept forgetting. For anyone who’s read “Monolith,” does anyone have any theories as to where it fits into canon? Or do I just need to accept the fact that it doesn’t fit perfectly anywhere?

"Monolith" takes place between "Spin the Bottle" and "Apocalypse Nowish"... But not REALLY. It's sort of alt-canon.

That’s what I figured, but going in I assumed that it was supposed to fit somewhere flawlessly so I was disappointed when it didn’t.
Actually, I thought it would take place somewhere between “Deep Down” and “The House Always Wins” because the easiest place to fit a stand alone story seemed to be at the very beginning of the season. But that was going with the idea that it would slip into the rest of the season neatly.

The only problem is that Cordelia is in the book and she has her memories.

I'd say that there was too much focus on Gunn fretting about his relationship with Fred, but maybe that's just me.

I got a Buffy and an Angel book for Christmas and I was wondering if anyone had heard of them?
The Buffy book isn't a story but a test of the readers knowledge of the first three seasons f Buffy. Everything from the character traits to what The Masters real name was all the way to the names of the bands and the songs they played in The Bronze. I got the highest rating (not score, rating) but still did worse than I thought I would).
The Angel book is a story called (I think) Dark Mirror in which Angel and the A.I team fight the evil clones of themselves.

Unfortunately, the Nyazian Prophecies is not an actual TV series. It's a "virtual series"... Meaning, it's fanfic written in the style of an actual series. You can read it at www.nyazian.net, but it's not a literal "TV series". The "DVD" is the collection of the S1 episodes, available on the website.

that's still a pretty good compliment eh emcee? unless you consider that the majority of shows on tv are crap.
