This is just a really short story based off of a comment I made in the episode thread that amused me.
Summary: Connor and Jamie decide to rent a video game. I imagined this taking place well before TNP even starts.
Words: 300 or so
--------------------------------------------
Connor and Jamie stood inside Blockbuster trying to figure out which game they should rent.
"Hey, how 'bout Eternal Darkness?" Jamie asked. "It's supposed to have a twisted story. And I heard that the insanity effects are wicked."
Connor picked up the box and started to read the back. "'Master arcane magick and craft your own spells to light your way through the darkness.' Uh... I don't think so."
"What? You don't want to play it because you'll have to cast some spells?" Jamie asked incredulously.
"The whole concept just freaks me out, okay?"
"You've played plenty of games where you had to use magic."
"Well, I just don't feel like it now!" Connor said a little too loudly.
Jamie took a step back. "I don't know what's up with you lately. You've been acting weird."
Connor thought that he had that right considering he was still trying to get used to having two sets of memories, but he didn't really want to try and explain any of his problems to his friend. "Okay, fine. We'll try it out. It's just a game, right?"

The two were back in their apartment, playing Chapter 9 of the game. Connor was currently in control but stuck at a dead end.
"I'm pretty sure there was a door in this hallway when we were here earlier," Connor decided.
"I think you need to used the Reveal spell here." Jamie suggested.
Connor input the command with his controller and his character started to chant. All of a sudden, his character's head exploded.
"What did you make me do?" Connor shouted.
"Dude, that's just an insanity effect."
The game reloaded and the character was standing next to the wall, head intact. "See, you're fine. Cast the spell again."
"No way." Connor started to hit the wall with a broadsword. "There's got to be another way through."
Jamie rolled his eyes. "Man, that's not going to work. Just cast the spell."
Connor just sat there looking worried. "Uh... you know, I think I have homework I should get to. Yeah, I've been slacking off too much. You take over." He stood up and scampered off to his room.
Jamie watched him go, then picked up the controller. He input the command for the spell and watched as the door appeared in the wall. He shook his head and laughed. "What a wuss."
