Synopsis: Having a Watcher is never easy, especially one like Andrew. But if Connor and Andrew can't work together, a new enemy may get the better of them.
"See? Homoerotic subtext! You two *so* need me!"
Andrew's annoying, Connor's annoyed, Salome's sarcastic, Jamie's suspicious.
Discuss the episode.

I do not understand why I seem to be the only person reading this. It's great! what the hell is wrong with all those other connor fans? what you guys got lives or something? Okay bad joke on my part.
I just really lie how well done and original this is. I mean the idea of a connor spin-off isn't original, but the ideas in this one are. Andrew becoming connor's watcher is the greates, and I love jamies character.
Of course, (and this could just be me being a pessimest) so far none of these spin offs have lasted past six or seven episodes, and that's the record. most seem to die out by number five. I just makes me sad becuase I always get so attached and then the writers lose interest, the series bites the dust and I'm stuck checking their sites for updates for a month until I realize what happened... In other words, you won't do that too right? ABANDONE THIS AND DIE... please.

I just realized that was a horrible thing to say. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to insult or demoralize. forget I said it.

Thank you for the enthusiasm about the story. There are other people reading "The Nyazian Prophecies". There are some people who have commented on it to me privately. It's still starting to wind up and I hold onto the hope that even more people will being to read. I'm glad you like Andrew as Connor's Watcher, and Jamie's character. My inner Salome feels a bit left out thought. Oh well, I suppose not everyone can be loved. Masquerade the Philosopher writes "The Destroyer" (http://www.livejournal.com/community/orlon_window/), which is has done nine episodes and still going strong. So not all Connor series end after five episodes. I have plans to do a whole season of "The Nyazian Prophecies". I've only been posting it for three weeks now, so it's a little early to be thinking about it ending. Keep the faith that I'll keep posting.

The one thing I was thinking while reading this episode was that Connor was acting like... well, this'll be too strong of a word, but I can't think of the word I want right now... an asshole.
Now, I excuse him for most of it. I'm not sure of the right way to handle the subject of his other life with Jamie and Jules other than cutting ties with them, which isn't exactly the right choice either.
And, as you may know from my comment at the livejournal, at some point during the first episode I'd have been in jail with a minimum of an assult charge if I had been in Connor's place dealing with Andrew.
But what I didn't like about Connor's behavior is that the only reason he went to Salome's was for his own personal gain. It wasn't that he wanted to see her, just that he didn't have anywhere else to go (subconsciously I guess he may have been using that as an excuse to see her... ). Now, it'll probably work out for the better that he did see her, but I still thought that was selfish considering I don't think he was planning on having anything to do with her... at that point at least.

Okay, that was supposed to be summed up with one word. Next time I post I guess I'll have to avoid using words the board doesn't like, huh?

EDIT: Oops, I totally misread what you had said here. Yes, in Connor's mind, the only thing he can do with Jules and Jamie is cutting ties with them. It's not the right choice, but it's the only choice he feels he has.
But what I didn't like about Connor's behavior is that the only reason he went to Salome's was for his own personal gain. It wasn't that he wanted to see her, just that he didn't have anywhere else to go
Oh, I'm sorry I didn't make this clear enough. Oops... Connor didn't go to see Salome because it was the only place for him to go. That was an excuse.
Connor has a crush on Salome. Obviously, I made that pretty clear in the first story. After he finds out she's a demon, it gets even worse. He doesn't want to date a demon, because of what they represent to him... But she's got that brassy strength that he found really attractive with Cordelia, Faith (and I suppose even Illyria). If he REALLY didn't want to see her, he could have sat on roof of something. He did go there because he wanted to see her.
I realize Connor came off as a bit of a jerk, and I chalk that up to him not having good coping mechanisms. Andrew was being annoying, which I think could drive anyone nuts. He couldn't confide in his friends, because he doesn't know if he can trust them. The girl he's been crushing on for a year turned out to be hiding a big secret (and, as much as I love Salome, she doesn't exactly instill confidence).
Personally, I have to give him a pass on his attitude. Most of it was stemming from the fact Andrew wasn't being very nice to him. And yes, he should have been nicer to Salome, but with Connor's pre-mind wipe track record, he could have acted a lot worse.

No, you made it clear enough. I'm just slow. I realized this while I was posting, but my post was based off of what I was thinking while reading the episode so I just kept going. While I know Connor does still like Salome, I guess what I was thinking at the time was that he was just giving her false hope that he had come around. I mean, he knew that she has an interest in him in some capacity, whether it be as an ally, friend, or something more. And when he went to see her, I don't think he was ready to have any type of relationship with her yet (or at the very least he thought he wasn't ready). I hope I'm making my thoughts clear, because I'm usually bad at doing so. While I don't blame Connor for going to see Salome (now that I realize he did want to see her), as an outsider looking in I think he should have handled the situation differently, my thinking being that there was a good chance he was just going to make her feel worse... though everything (seems to have) actually worked out for the better. I never actually said I knew better than anyone. As for his overall attitude in the episode, I give him a pass as well.

As much as I love Connor, he's the King of Handling Situations badly. *g* He must get it from his father.
I never actually said I knew better than anyone.
You actually know pretty well. It was a crappy thing for Connor to do. He just damn lucky Salome called him on it. If he had done that sort of thing to someone else (like, say, Jules) it would have been a lot worse.

I've noticed with The Buffyverse that lots of second episodes in the seasons are hard for me to watch (Dead Man's Party, Living Conditions, Barganing Part Two and Ground State). Most of these episodes, don't remind me of this one but the fighting Conner and Andrew go through drive me just as nuts. I feel like Jamie does as I read this episode.

I felt I needed to earn Connor and Andrew acting as a team, so I needed to have them fight throught the episode. I can understand how would make you a bit nuts, but I really felt I needed to seal their bond.

Just got finish reading this episode. I thought it was a great episode, having Andrew as Connor's watcher and Salome being a helper on the side. Great episode overall .
