The Nyazian Prophecies were among some of the most detailed foretellings of the dark days. Unfortunately, the scroll found by Angel Investigations was only one of many. Salome is on a mission to find the lost scrolls. But without the help of the Destroyer, her search will lead her straight into danger.

I finally got around to reading the episode, but I was kind of distracted while doing it. Before I make any enlightening (ha!) comments I'm going to have to re-read this. I did like it though, and was very happy to find out more about Salome.
I do have a couple unimportant thoughts I had at the end the last episode but kept in my head because I wanted to read the next episode first, and one about this episode that I know won't be affected by a second read:
My mind works weird so the first thing I thought after Secrets was, "They're not going to keep living in the apartment that was paid for by Jamie's evil, murderous Father... are they?" Maybe they are.
Speaking of the apartment, did they do anything about Clarice being invited in? Maybe they still didn't realize? I was slightly surprised that Connor didn't smell her (or at least a vampire in general) in the last episode but attributed it to initial panic regarding the distraction and then having other things on his mind. But I honestly was expecting mention of it in this episode one way or another.
Then today I wondered if the invite even applies anymore because Jules is dead. And then I thought of two invitation situations on Angel that bug me (Kate's apartment, Connor's loft) and got confused so I stopped thinking about vampire invitation rules.
I was then thinking that maybe there was a reason Connor didn't notice Clarice's presence. If I remember correctly there's something up with her that we don't know completely about, but I forgot exactly what we are supposed to know about her. And Jaime did say his dad took Jules, so if Connor didn't notice anything unusual, they probably wouldn't suspect anything else.
And now that I've babbled too much about it and appeased my own curiousness (correctly or not, I don't know), on to my last thought.
I was looking forward to seeing what the Council's, and mainly Angel's, reaction to Wesley would be. So I was very satisfied to hear about the conversation Angel and Connor had after Andrew called the Council immediately following the last... oh wait... Andrew didn't call them! The little ****! I can't believe he... no, I actually do believe he didn't... my Andrew hate is now back up to where it normally is. Maybe slightly higher.
When I get back to this episode I'll probably have thoughts on Connor and Jaime's first conversation, Connor and Salome's fight, Salome in general, and a couple other things. For now though, I didn't really read the scenes well enough to get solid opinions on most things yet.

For the moment, they're going to remain in the apartment. Neither Connor nor Jamie have a job and can't really afford to go somewhere else right away.
Connor's sense of smell is not an automatic thing. He does have to concentrate. So he doesn't realize Clarice was in there. By now, the scent would have disappated.
Clarice can still enter the Black/Riley/Wells home, since Jules was a member of the household at the time of the invitation. There does have to be a ritual de-invitation.
Poor guy. He just can't win with you, can he?

I didn't expect housing to be addressed now for a lot of different reasons. But I guess I was thinking that maybe Andrew could at least ask the Council if they could hold the group up somewhere else for now. You know, while he was discussing certain other issues with them. But since that didn't happen...
As for the invitation, I thought they would be smart enough to at least take precautions just incase, especially since Jamie told Connor that Clarice was the one who brought Jules in. And Jamie's dad was surprised by this so he probably wasn't the one who kidnapped her, though I'm not sure Jamie specifically said any of that to Connor. I don't blame him for not explaining the story step by step. But if it comes up again he needs to.
So knowing which characters have what information, I can buy that they wouldn't take precautions. Especially after recent events.
In relation to that, these people need to talk to each other more. I'm mainly looking at Andrew and Connor. The first thing Connor should have asked Andrew every time he saw him was, "Did you talk to the Council about Wesley yet?"
Of course, Connor needs to work on his communication skills in general. I'll probably have more to say about that when I re-read the episode.
Short answer: No, he can't.

The guys are still trying to get their bearings, get used to this whole working together thing. Andrew isn't used to being a leader, and Connor isn't used to be part of a team. They're still trying to get their shit together.
Damn right. Connor's got terrible people skills, even as Connor Riley. He wasn't exactly a social butterfly.

After round two with this episode, here are my final thoughts:
Andrew's already staying in Jules' room, huh? I don't have a problem with this in and of itself, but I am curious about the circumstances that led to the decision. Did Jaime go to Andrew and say, "Since you're staying here now you should have the empty room" (even if he didn't like the idea) or something similar, or did Connor suggest it? Either way it has to be hard, but I'm hoping it wasn't Connor's idea. Too insensitive for me I guess.
I'm waiting for Connor to hurt someone because he couldn't control his temper. Yes, he knows that Salome can take a punch or two, but as was mentioned in the first episode, Connor doesn't always remember his own strength. Jaime or Andrew (or someone else) might not be able to take a well placed punch. Or forgive him for it. Yeah Salome egged him on somewhat, and he was pissed for many reasons, but Connor's lucky he got away with his behavior. And I thought he was getting a little... rough with Jaime in act one, too.
I'm not good at giving constructive criticism in regards to pieces of work, usually having to settle for saying "I liked it" if I... you know, or not commenting if I don't. But I do want to say that you have me as interested in Jaime and Salome as much as I would be in any established character (other than Connor and probably Faith) and that the group dynamic of the main four is excellent. Obviously it's far from perfect, and considering each of their backgrounds the way they are interacting with each other makes perfect sense.
I'm looking forward to the next episode. Although I have very mixed feelings regarding the preview.

I think Jamie told Andrew "Take it." after he packed up Jules' things.
Salome is in a different position than Jamie and Andrew and I think Connor treats her accordingly. Yeah, he got a bit rough with Jamie in his anger, but I don't think he would ever punch him. He punched Salome because she's a demon, and he has no qualms with punching a demon (even one that he's friends with). I think if he were to have a human opponent, he would act very different.
I'm glad. I like writing Jamie and Salome a lot and it's good to know they're not just "the originals". I do believe they're an important to the story as an established character would be.They're in roles that couldn't be filled by established characters, seeing as how specialized they are.
Geez... Poor Andrew. He really can't get a break with you.

That scene reminded me of a different Connor story I read set in an alternate season 4 where he forgot his strength and pushed another character a little too hard and she ended up dying because of the way her head hit the edge of a desk.
So while I think that he knows that he can't hit Jaime or any other human like he can a demon (and I hope at some point he decides to use more self-control with the demons that are on his side), I'd still advise him to watch it with the rough treatment.
I'm planning on reading My Brother's Keeper tonight. If I find out he came to his senses and told the Council about Wes, I'll give him one break. Otherwise...

Solome going off on her own wasn't necacerally a great idea but at the same time I understand why she did it. As for everyone else they had their reasons for disliking the idea of it also which makes my reaction odd because I usually hate it when main characters fight but Emcee makes it less about the vebal fighting and more about the physical plus makes the fights shorter. Solome being a Nyazian Demon was a shock and a suprise to me. I loved it. I also love the character of Oni and how she is so curious and... about everything said to her. Beautifully written chapter that was one of my favorites.

I really wanted to show that Salome isn't just Connor's sidekick and she DOES have her own issues to deal with. I think this was a very personal problem for her (which will make mose sense later on). It ties to the secret that Lorne read in "Secrets".
Connor and Salome are both very physical people so any fight between them would require fighting. When it comes to their really visceral emotions I think they need to punch it out.
After I named the series "The Nyazian Prophecies" I realized I needed to bring the Nyazians INTO the series. I thought about the decision a lot and I think I made the right choice.
As I've said before, Oni is a complete and utter joy to write. She's so much fun. I owe a lot to (consulting producer) Fre for that character. She's just so sweet and earnest. It's really fun.
Thank you! I'm very fond of this episode myself. I was a bit worried about it, since the main focus is on a new character, but I think it turned out all right in the end.

Sorry it's been so long, was on holiday visiting fam for a couple weeks, no internet for the whole time. Nice and relaxing actually. Anyway ... Another awesome ep! I was hoping Oni would get more to do. I love Kou Shibasaki (Invitation rocks!), and I could totally picture her up there on the stage in Lorne's club! So glad to see Jamie out of his funk, was worried he was gonna be all Uni Bomber guy. And, even if they are bad or indifferent, it was good to meet some fam of Salome's. Can't wait to find out about this Azriel dude. Emcee already knows I'm a huge Peter Wingfield fan, so I could totally picture him as Azriel! Great job. Restraining myself from starting ep 6 until tomorrow!
