Jealousy is sparked when Salome becomes interested in a charming, young artist. But behind the sweet artistic sensitivity lies a dark secret.

ok, I'm trying to be Mr. Helpful-criticism not Mr. Attak-the- talented-author but this episode sorta dissapointed me. I thought It was sorta a filler wich isnt neccessarily a bad thing (see "Smile Time") but I thought the episode didn't really have to much edge. after reading the act 1 you sorta knew what was gonna happen. I know its hard especially since you have this GINORMOUS 3 parter (which you made a cool trailer for) so maybe you felt you had to hurry so I dont wanna point fingers. Now that I'm done feeling bad about semi-attacking you, the 3 parter looks like the SH*T!! Im so excited and Fun and Games looks like a funnier Storyteller so you've got me on the edge of my seat. Plus the invisible spoiler has me all tingly! Do I read it or not!!! Grrrr... choices choices choices!

It's all right. It was most definitely a filler episode. I think by having a story stuck between "Parents Day" and the three-part event, I made it really hard for myself. "Parents Day" was a very personally traumatic episode for Connor and the three-part is going to just take just about EVERYTHING we know about the series and turn it on its ear. Having something in the middle of that makes it a little disappointing.
I also think that its important that this episode be looked at in a different way. Frankly, the Gorgon is incidental. We always know Connor is going to kill the monster in the end. Its what he does. He's the hero. I felt this episode was more on a personal level. I needed to resolve the pent up feelings between Connor and Salome. I didn't want to have them just get together. I felt I had to earn it, with all of the hesitation Connor has had. But I didn't want to drag out the "will-they-or-won't-they" because, frankly, I get really sick of that on TV. In RL, if there are two people who like each other, they get together. It usually isn't dragged out over a long time.
I also wanted to address the family aspect of the group. Even thought she's a newer character, Oni went patrolling with Connor (something she doesn't fully agree with) just to make sure he was okay. Andrew is also concerned, despite Angel making threats against him if Connor did get together with a demon.
There is also that these guys are really not much more than teenagers. Connor never really had the opportunity to just act like a teenager on "Angel", and I haven't given him that chance in TNP either. So this episode was really my attempt to show that, despite everything that's happened, Connor and Salome still act like dumbass college students.
Don't feel bad that this episode wasn't your favourite. I expected that to happen. I just want to assure you that Connor/Salome isn't going to become the primary focus of the series (because the only thing I hate more than "will-they-or-won't-they" crap is "couply angsty" crap).
I'm glad you like the look of the three-parter. It should be pretty exciting. And "Fun and Games" will harken back to "Storyteller" a bit ("Storyteller" is one of my favourite episodes).

I thought the Oni/Connor patrol felt sorta reminiscant to Oz patrollw/ Buffy in Living Conditions. I'm just excited for Lindsey's appearence in the coming attractions. Will it turn out he's more superhuman than we thought (yay) or the more likely it's the first haunting Lorne?

That was actually intentional. I realized very early on that it was a lot like the Oz/Buffy patrol, so I did play it up a bit. But I thought it was an important scene to include. I've had scenes with Connor/Salome, Connor/Andrew, Connor/Jamie, Salome/Andrew, Salome/Jamie, Andrew/Jamie and Andrew/Oni. Pretty much the only ones left to do were Connor/Oni and Oni/Jamie. I wanted to show the dynamics between the different characters. Now there's only Oni/Jamie left to do (and it'll appear in "Confluence").
As for Lindsey... I'll just say I'm a big fan of Lindsey and Christian Kane.

While the episode was filler, it's good it happened before the main plot moved forward. I'm glad that Connor and Salome are offically together now because that's what they both wanted.
I liked Connor up on stage. I think I want to see him up there drunk at some point.
Up until act 4 I wasn't sure if the statue thing was permanent and I half expected Salome to be turned before she was saved. At least Percy is one villian who didn't get to run off at the end.
Like last week with the Wisconsin mention, there was another thing in this episode that I'm pretending was a shout out to me.
That preview video was great. I, and I'm sure a lot of other people, appreciate the amount of detail you've put into the series. This really feels like a television series to me.

If around episode 4 there was a pool taking place on when Connor and Salome were to actually get together, I would have put my money on episode 17. I just didn't think it'd happen until much later on. And despite all the signs pointing to the conclusion that it would be happening soon, maybe because of them actually, I still assumed that it would be held off until the second half of the season. Up until late last week anyway.
Either way, something had to be resolved before this main arc. Even if they had temporarily agreed not to have a relationship, it had to be put to rest for a while.
Percy referring to Connor as Corey, because that's my name. A character named Corey wouldn't fall under the fictional shout out category, but this one time reference did. That's still reaching a lot, but I'm taking what I can get.

I thought it better to just flat out get them together. Even if they both had temporarily agreed not to be together, it still would have been this big thing looming over them. With them together, that cuts the tension and they can focus on more important things.
....
It was TOTALLY a shout out. Didn't you know I'm psychic? *g*

I agree, but going into this episode anything would have been better than the reader wondering for 3 or more episodes if Connor would finally come to his senses or if Salome would just give up, without any disucssion at all occuring. But since it's over and done with, I guess I can stop talking about it now.
I had my suspicions, but since I always second guess myself I decided it was a coincidence.

Thank you so much! I really liked this episode myself. I thought it was really important for Salome and Connor to have a flat-out romantic episode. I know it's terrible to say as the writer, but I do ship them.
As I said previously, Oni is one of my favourite characters to write. She is supposed to be slightly reminscent of Anya with her strange attitudes, but I hope she's different enough to be a new character.
