A translated passage of the Nyazian Prophecie reveals Connor must face Cyvus Vail in the next forty-eight hours... Or Vail will be able to raise an army of thousands. So Connor decides to enjoy a final day of life.

well first i got to say i loved this line "I don't exactly know," Connor murmured. He got out of bed. He began to pull on his clothes. "Either I had a profound vision that will help us win this fight..." He shrugged. "Or I drank a little too much at Caritas last night." This was a great ep it really showed Connor as Angel's son. The dream was a nice touch.

There's a whole lot I liked about this episode, which I guess isn't unusual. The whole teaser was gold. I especially loved:
"It's the fact that we spent three hours looking for any game and in the end you were happy watching twelve-year-old kids play a junior league game."
This usually is me with football. Father and son playing catch? I'm there. Although the dads usually get mad when I boo the kids when they drop a pass. Don't know why, they have to catch it when it hits them right in the hands!
Let's see... I'm having trouble coming up with what I want to say about them, but Jamie visiting Jules' grave and Connor's message to Angel were my two favorite scenes.
I'd find it funny... er, I mean horrific... if Cyvus was responsible for Connor's dream. I'm just sayin'. I'm very interested to see exactly what Connor and Salome have planned though.
And in case you didn't know, in the LJ version, there's a couple html errors early in act 1. And in act 2 there's no link to act 3, although I put one in the comments because someone had trouble with it. I didn't notice these problems in the version on the site.
I'll probably be back tomorrow, or sometime, with clearer thoughts. There really were a lot of things about this episode that stood out, I just don't know what to say about them right now.

I'm glad you enjoyed. I really liked the teaser myself. Maybe it's silly, but two of my favourite teasers on Buffy were the "Indian movie watching" from... Hm. Some second season episode... I think it was "Reptile Boy". And the "Captain and Tennille: Who was the Top?" from "Ted". (Which is ironic, since I don't really care for the rest of those eps). I love when the gang is just shown as friends. I thought about including the others, but I wanted to get back to the basics. Connor-Salome-Jamie are the Buffy-Willow-Xander of TNP, so they are the true core.
I also wanted to bring the hockey back, prior to the game in Act One. I realized that I showed them playing hockey, playing video hockey, but never WATCHING hockey. And... Well, it's Connor and Jamie's thing.
I was a bit worried about this episode. It was about a third of the way through it when I realized NOTHING HAPPENED. Well, stuff happened, but there was NO fighting. But I felt the reflection on the characters was enough to hold up the episode. Those two moments you named were two of my favourites... Though I do have a special place in my heart for the drunken sing-along of "American Pie".
Thanks for pointing out the mistakes in the LJ version. Since I use Dreamweaver for the coding on the site, which creates A LOT of unnecessary code, I have to raw-code the LJ version and sometimes I make errors. I thought I'd caught them all. But I've gone and fixed them up.

I know it's been a long time since I've seen those two episodes, but I can't remember either of those teasers. But yeah, it's nice when there is normal interaction between characters. It's a reminder, to us and them, that they do have lives outside of demon fighting.
That's actually still a concern of mine with Andrew and Wes. Although there's been some attempts, neither of them has done much of anything outside of their work. Wes has said he's leaving, at least for a while, after this is done so that should help him. But Andrew has got to find something to regularly occupy some of his time so that he doesn't completely burn out.
Not every episode has to have action. I'm a big fan of the talking, so I'm glad whenever it actually happens. Jamie reflecting to his sister some, that was probably long overdue for him. And it's a miracle if Connor talks about anything, so it was good he eventually got things off of his chest, even if no one was physically there listening to him most of the time. So yeah, I'm happy that we got to see, in detail where needed, how everyone chose to deal with the situation that they've been faced with.
One of the other better moments was in the Connor/Salome scene in the beginning of act 4. Namely the whole "Right now, I want to see you... The real you" part. It's amazing how far Connor has come since he first came back from Quortoth, spell or no spell.
And drunken sing-alongs are a favorite of mine, so I can't believe I didn't mention that originally. I am shamed.

This was a very good episode. Even if there wasn't a lot of action. It reminded me of the Buffy episode "Conversations with Dead People" in that respect. And I am curios to find out what Salome's "tatoos" do finally.

Salome's "tattoos" don't actually do anything but mark her as the Ma-Kai, the Nyazian Champion.

It's coming slowly, but surely. This episode is EXTREMELY difficult and I've been having a lot of RL issues lately (including the death of my cat, who was the model for Straight to the Jack). Sorry it's been taking so long! Soon... Soon...

When's the summary update for 1x20 coming as well? I love reading those quirky little extra things at the bottom of the episode summary, with all the additional notes and stuff. just wondrin about it.

I have to say, I really liked this episode. It was very touching watching the dynamic between the characters as Connor was trying to dissuade the others from going into battle with him and him finally relenting. Very heartwarming.
As for the dream sequence, on my second reading of the episode, I picked up on Samara's line about stacking the deck but leaving out the queen and ace. I'm guessing Salome's the queen and Connor's the ace. Tell me if I'm wrong. On the second viewing, everything Darla and Samara said does make sense to me now. I hope we see more of Darla communicating with Connor from beyond the grave as the series goes on.
