To finally defeat Cyvus Vail, Connor and his friends must face their worst enemies: their own desires.

It had to be Connor who rejected the illusion. This season has been a struggle for him to let go of his false life and the illusion just put the nail in the coffin.
Also, both Azriel and Cyvus has played with Connor's head before, so it's possible he's less suseptible to them now.
As for Andrew.... Of COURSE he still has a thing for Spike. Even if Andrew is straight (which I highly doubt, boy is at least bi), he's got a crush on Spike.

Awesomeness! I especially liked the end - I didn't see that coming at all.

The episode was great. Although a little long in the making. Even with the temporary site shutdown. I hope that there aren't any other episodes that end up being like that. My favorite parts were: 1. Spike!!! 2. Vail getting beheaded. 3. Connor Riley trying to propose and seeing or imagining how Connor Angel would.

I'm very sorry for how long it too.
Spike is scheduled for at least two episodes in season two. I'd really like to have him around... Especially REALLY around. The dreams don't really count.
As for Connor ANGEL proposing... Well, I have *never* thought about how he might do that *shifty look*

"Hi, Dad." I think that's my favorite line in the history of spoken dialogue. I'm actually kind of giddy now that it's made an appearance here. I was hoping Angel and the gang would be there when Cyvus bit it. I at least knew he wouldn't be sitting in Hawaii waiting for Connor to call during this whole thing.
So Salome has even more power now? That doesn't make me any less nervous from when I mentioned my worries after one of the earlier episodes.
I got a kick out of Andrew's Spike. "You're so cool." Hee!
As for Connor Angel proposing... I imagine during a fight with a pack of vampires, he shoves the ring down the vampire's throat. Then he has Salome dust it. In the pile of dust, there's the ring. Wait, now I forget, would that even work? If not, then he'd do it with a demon type it would work with. And the ring would be made from melted down weapons.

"Hi, Dad." I think that's my favorite line in the history of spoken dialogue. I'm actually kind of giddy now that it's made an appearance here. Yes, yes... Hi dad is ICONIC when it comes to Congel. It actually has come up in TNP before... It was the teaser end of "Parents Day". I've actually been holding onto this ace (no pun intended) since the series began. I knew from the first episode that 1x21 was going to end with "hi dad" and that 22 would be Congel-oriented. I didn't want to bring Angel in until Connor had really proved himself the Champion. It's kind of the delicious, rich dessert after the 21-course dinner that was the main arc. What are you nervous about? I mean, this will be a MAJOR issue in season two... But she's not going to go all Dark Willow on us. Pablo and I spent a great deal of time giggling over Andrew's Spike. I picture him a lot like Giddy!Spike from "Restless" and "Soul Purpose". Which James does SO well. I was really glad to be able to bring Spike in... Even if it was Andrew's SpikeLite. Maybe I'm completely and utterly sick... But I actually think this is entirely romantic for those two. Damn. Now I want to write that! When it suited the plot of Buffy and Angel, things stuck around from vampires. So I think yeah, it would work.

Man, I’ve been having some bad luck. The last couple of days I’ve been getting “Too many connections” errors when I’ve tried to post. Let’s see if it lets me this time. Anyway...
I had forgotten that, but yeah, now I remember liking it then too. Though it didn’t have the same impact as this time around because it wasn’t actually to Angel, even if Connor didn’t know that yet.
I can’t say exactly. It’s not that I think she’s going to go evil, it’s just that I always expect something to go wrong when someone has that much power. Maybe someone out there will try to use it against her? I don’t really know.
This was one time I wasn’t trying to be funny. I honestly thought it fit them well.

I had forgotten that, but yeah, now I remember liking it then too. Though it didn’t have the same impact as this time around because it wasn’t actually to Angel, even if Connor didn’t know that yet. It repeats because it's so important to the Congel dynamic. And yeah, it didn't have as big an impact last time... But this is the end of the season and yeah, it IS Angel, so it's more important. Salome's going to have to adjust to all of this new power she's received. She's, as Connor said, spending the summer with Willow, but she'll have a long journey. The Nyazian Council will also come back. It really, really would. I actually went "Awww..." When I read it. It would totally work for Con/Sal.
