And yet God was almost never even mentioned, the only time I can think of is in season seven CWDP when the vampire asks buffy if there is a god and she said "nothing solid".
Any act by a higher being in the series was said to have been either the first, the powers or the senior partners, and don't say god works in mysterious ways it's been shown in the bible multiple times that he does interact with us quite a bit... just not, you know... for the last what? 2000+ years? at least nothing written down in any books...
If anything eclectic wicca (as butchered as it is on the show) is the highest ranking one in terms of anything shown... well not including the jasminites one.

I know we're never going to agree on this subject, which is why I like forums but I don't look at the Buffyverse as God having to be mentioned to be real. I see him in the symbolism. That is why vamps cannot touch crosses asnd bibles etc. And who said in the Buffyverse who said God can't be a or the higher power of all the higher powers.

IIRC they never had problems with bibles, and the whole cross thing could be attributed to the celtic cross, maybe one of those gods had a problem with vampires... Can't explain the holy water though
