what moments that, if he hadn't acted out of anger, would have made Connor less angsty/more accepting of him?
It seems to me that if he hadn't sent Connor away after finding out about Connor/Cordy or after he got back from his ummm... diving expedition, Connor might have ended up differently
he might even have not had a a hand in that teenage girls death, he probably wouldn't have been with cordy as much either

I'd say there are three opportunities:
(1) Kicking him out of the hotel in the first place... Angel, don't make decisions when you're half-mad with hunger.
(2) When Cordelia came back and decided to stay with Connor. Angel should have said they should both come back to the hotel.
(3) The BIG one. This is the one I really think screwed it up... "Habeas Corpses", when Connor said "....Dad?" And Angel just ignored him. If he had reached out, it would have been all different, but Angel threw a teenaged hissy fit.

if you were presented with the same information darla and cordilius provided, would you have made the same choice that connor did? would you kill an innocent girl to save the life of your lover and child?

In seasons three and four I have always made my feelings for Connor clear and even if that did change, I easily understand why Angel did what he did and back him up 100% because in order to have everything change in their relationship one major character change would have had to be different. 1. Connor would have to have no feelings for Cordelia. That would have changed absolutely everything. Not just a better chance at the father/son relationship.

or, Angel could be the one to have no romantic feelings for cordy, you'd end up with pretty much the same results

I think there were 3 moments if Angel had made a different choice things could have ended differently: 1. Not throwing Connor out off the Hotel. I understand that Angel was pissed, very understandable, but I think throwing Connor out, wasn't really a punishment. He would have probably left on his own. Instead he should have ordered Connor to stay. Also because this way Holtz won, there was now a big rift between father and son. This is also the reason why I never really liked Angel's speech about standing above things (champion speech), because he played right into Holtz's plan/game which his son had become the victim off as well. As a champion he should have let him stay and helped him instead off 'your on your one now, figure it out!' thing. And who says Connor needs to be a champion to live with his father!!! 2. Your Teenage son after probably having the first sexual experience of his life (I don't think he new all that much about sex before this, even Angel should have known this) should have been one cloud nine. Instead goes on a Kamikaze mission afterward for answers to W&H instead of Angel and then goes to confront the Beast which at that time seemed unbeatable, then when that son reaches out for help and you turn him away, because you feel liking acting as a teenager because he slept because with the woman who was supposed to sleep with you (although that couldn't have happened because of the perfection thing) a. your not a good father and b. your not a champion because again he lets his negative emotions get the better of him, a champion is above this!! 3. Your guts are telling you that Cordelia is the bad guy and you don't think about including the boy, your son when you confront the woman who is pregnant with his child, who she has been spending all her time with, you really aren't all that bright!! This was really the biggest mistake, because this would have definitely chanced Connor's decision!! I remember this scene so well, the first thing I thought was were is Connor!!This is not going to end well and it didn't!! I really love Angel, but the way he treated his son was a disappointment!! With faith he was so great!! So I know he could have done better and things would have worked out just fine!!
