As far as my understanding of these two major evil powers go, the First Evil existed long before the Senior Partners (or the Wolf, Ram & Hart) came into existence. But since the Senior Partners removed themselves from the Earthly dimension with no designs on coming back to it (except for the Review), their power is likely to be eternal, while the First can be stopped by letting the Apocalypse occur so it can become corporeal (according to Buffyverse canon). Comments on this assessment?

Just because the first would become corporeal doesn't mean theres anyway any heroes who have existed so far could stop it.

Good point, Xandrew. So do you think there should be an equally powerful entity- like the First Good- who can stop the First Evil? Does the First Good even exist in the Buffyverse? (This is not just for Xandrew, by the way.)

Personally I think that it's the universe intself that's good, as is everything in it, and that evil is a virus, one that you can only slow down, but never stop

Can someone tell me where it says The First Evil can or will or is able to become corporeal because I was under the impression it couldn't therefore that was what made it eternal.

Here's the text with Cassie Newton's predicton relating to the First from tv.com's Buffy notes:
Cassie says "You will (make a difference)" We learn that the only way to stop The First from ever doing evil is by letting the apocalypse occur, so it may become corporeal. Since Buffy stopped that apocalypse, she definitely made a difference, but The First is still out there, with much opportunity and resources to cause more evil.
Of course, I considered the possibility that this might have been a one-time thing and that the First may never become corporeal.

Xandrew made a couple of good points in this thread. To add to them, I see evil as coexisting eternally with good as part of the Creator's divine plan to put it as simply as I can.

Boywonder. This isn't cannon. You know that right? Not unless Joss says it in Buffy 8 comics.

The first did say she wanted to be able to "wrap her hands around an innocent and feel..." I think there was a reference around that to becoming corporeal

But there was (I don't think) any reference anywhere to its ultimate agenda being a coporeal being.

It doesn't really matter anyway; the First Evil is pretty much eternal and omnipresent in its present form (i.e. incorporeal) and has nothing to gain by being corporeal. Especially since anything that is corporeal has a finite life span. Besides, according to the Wikipedia entry for it, it's been around since before the creation of the [Buffyverse] universe and will still exist after the universe ends. (The Wikipedia entry does mention something about it becoming corporeal but it's probably just referring to it possessing someone to use as a Vessel.)
As for the Senior Partners, their power comes from careful, clever manipulation of humans and other less powerful beings and their weaknesses. So they, like the First Evil, can never be destroyed.
Basically, the moral of the Buffyverse appears to be: there's always a bigger fish!

well, I think after being around for millions of years I'd get a little bored watching all my creations being able to destroy while all I could do is stalk people and talk/bore them to death... I mean especially considering that I probably wouldn't get incredibly emotionally cripled people like salome, andrew, angel, willow and connor all the time... there must have been centuries where because of the crusades and whatnot demon fighters may not have been so easily insecure.

As I understand it, the First may not have become corporeal in the event of an apocalypse, but it would be able to possess anyone and everyone on Earth, instead of just doing the psychological manipulation and mua-ha-ha'ing at the heroes and being unable to physically manipulate things. So for something that has been intangible since... you know, EVER, that could be considered as coporeality.
