As her relationship with Connor reaches a critical juncture, an accident with Salome's new powers take her to a parallel reality... One where she died in the Nyazian Massacre.
I await the first Connor/Salome/Connor-2 story You know, my birthday IS next week...

Happy early birthday, Emcee! Great way to bring back the Resikhian demons! And different Resikhians too! I also take back some of what I said about "I hope Azriel doesn't reappear" as well. I hope we never see evil Az again, but I would love to see another episode with the alternate reality Az, Connor and Spike taking on Cyvus Vail just as Cyvus is about to jump to Salome's reality (hopefully, Cyvus won't succeed!). I actually kind of liked alternate-Az and his almost fatherly bond with alternate-Connor. Although I was puzzled by his remark to Connor "I think I'm proof demons can be hot." But I'll comment on it in another thread. The ending was very moving and heart-wrenching. I must say, this series has produced a lot of emotional moments that really stay with you and make you feel uplifted or melancholy. You did a wonderful job Emcee! Keep it up!

Thank you very much!
I need to figure out SOME way to mess Salome up to end up in the alternate dimension. Originally, she was going to get stabbed and then doing it on reflex.... But I figured it wasn't a good enough explanation and I'd put Salome through enough last week. I thought bringing in another type of Resikhian would help explain the name difference, since they WERE Granoks on AtS. I think by the end of this series, I'm going to have a great lot of information on Nyazian and Resikhian demons, considering how much I reveal!
I was very happy to bring Az back, in a nicer roler. I always loved the characters, evilness and all, and I LOVE the actor, Peter Wingfield. I thought it would be neat to see him in a new light.
And I don't think we've seen the last of alt-Connor and Co. I very much enjoyed writing them and would like to revisit that later.
I'm glad you feel that way. I work really hard to give my episodes the same emotional impact as BtVS and AtS. These characters feel so real to me, I have to do them justice by giving them meaty material.

would you settle for a connor/connor-2 story?

That's a bit too close to incest... At least with Salome there's a buffer.

You know what, I'm starting to think this coversation should take place in a more appropriate forum. If you have the desire to start a thread about the merits of Connor/Connor-2, go for it. I was just making a joke about it, but.... Now it's getting into territory where I don't want people to be uncomfortable in the episode discussion thread.

How did salomes death affect azriel? was there another thing that was different between the dimensions that affected him like that?
At first I thought that cyvus just cast a mind control spell on az, like what amy did to willow, subtle but the longer it's in place the stronger it gets, but that it was removed when he died
until I read that he was still alive
also what happened to clarice? alt dimensions are weird, we never found out where dru, darla, kokistos and spike were in the wishverse

Azriel was definitively good in the alt-verse (which needs a good name like "Wishverse". Any votes, folks?). The big difference is that Azriel and Meerna were in love and left the Nyazian clan *together*, so Azriel was never influenced to follow Cyvus.
Salome's death would have affected Meerna because they're related. Salome and Azriel aren't related.
Clarice was killed to create the Hellmouth in the alt-verse just like in our world, only it was Cyvus who did it instead of Azriel.

the alt-verse talks place after "battle of the champions" right? why isn't the wolrd gone, is it because he doesn't have a new body?
when I started to read the last bit of the episode I thought I was going to get a chill like the end of "normal again" I really did
I wonder if demons really do exist in the ?normal-verse? it would be kinda cool for her to meet various people from the angel spin-off of her insanity

Exactly. Cyvus Vail doesn't have the power to open the Hellmouth yet because he's still trapped in Wesley's body.

I really liked this episode! I got to see some of the characters in a completely new light. Especially Connor and Azriel.
Also, that was very interesting that Quortoth is starting to bleed into all of Earth. This is going to be an interesting season I can tell.

It's funny... I don't know how different Connor *really* is. I think he's just acting closer to his S4 self, only more extreme... More bitterness, more loneliness, more mistrust... This is honestly what I think Connor would be like had the memory spell been taken away, but he didn't have Salome, Andrew, Jamie and Oni to support him (and, before you ask, even though Cyvus is still alive in his world, the memory spell has faded because alternaConnor forced it to, like in "Devil's in the Details").
alternaAzriel came from my desire to put Connor with the absolute last person you would expect him to work with. While there are a lot of people Connor dislikes, I really don't think he personally hates anyone more than Azriel. And, like I said before, I really like Azriel and the actor who plays him, so it was fun to bring the character back and add a new spin to it.
I was wondering who was going to pick up on that point. It is really an important point, but it's kind of buried in this one-shot. I've really gotten sick of the idea of "Localized Apocalypses". In BtVS and AtS, whenever something was going really wrong, end of the world wrong, it only seemed to affect the people in town (except for "Prophecy Girl" where Jenny gets the messages about all of the weird occurances around the world). If the Apocalypse was coming, it would affect all over and not just one town. That's what makes it an Apocalypse. It also gives a very convenient explanation for why the Slayer's Council is not descending onto Palo Alto with force... Because they're busy elsewhere in the world with this Apocalypse.

You know it's amazing that there's probably been like thousands of apocolypses throughout humans time on earth and none of them have destroyed the world.... unless there have only bee apocolie since the begening of buffy, Which I guess is even more amazing when you think about it.

Ohhh!!! Jonathen would be perfect for alt-verse... although it would be hard for it not to end up like when roseanne won the lottery
